LDRD Reserve Investments accelerating science

MaRIE partnered recently with the LDRD office to do a mid-term status update of the FY11 “materials in extremes” LDRD reserve projects to assess progress and explore transition opportunities. In spite of the recent fire, all projects are making good progress and have exciting plans for the remainder of the fiscal year. The scope of these projects span XFEL physics, APS experiments, Advanced pRad, synthesis science, and accelerating materials certification.  These efforts while distinct and independent of MaRIE are developing foundational science consistent with the Laboratory’s materials strategy that will benefit MaRIE< in the long term.
